What To Eat With Braces - And What Not To

Date July 4, 2008

Many people that are getting Invisalign or conventional braces tend to wonder what to eat with braces. Invisalign aligners allow you to eat foods that you would not be able to eat while wearing conventional braces. You can take out your Invisalign aligners when you want to eat and for water you can just leave the Invisalign aligners in.

When it comes to figuring out what to eat with braces, many orthodontists will recommend you stay away from anything too sticky or too crunchy. Many of your favorite foods may be out of the question because they can break apart some of the metal brackets that conventional braces consist of. Invisalign users do not have to worry about this, however.

Also knowing what to eat with braces is important, it is also important to know what to avoid when wearing conventional braces. This includes the following:

  • Bubble Gum
  • Doritos
  • Corn Chips
  • Cheetos
  • Fritos
  • Nuts
  • Peanut Brittle
  • Corn On The Cob
  • Ribs
  • Popcorn
  • Hard Pretzels
  • Raw Carrots
  • Carmel Candy
  • Beef Jerky
  • Ice
